Liat Benin, an Israeli-American woman held hostage in Gaza, is expected to be among the 50 hostages released by Hamas during the initial four-day truce, according to the White House. But as of Monday he remains in captivity.

“Obviously I am disappointed, but we remain optimistic and hope that he will be released in the next two days,” Yehuda Benin, his father, told CNN.

Under the expanded truce, Hamas will release 10 hostages each day, according to a senior Israeli adviser. This leaves open the possibility that two American women, including Liat Benin, will be released on Tuesday or Wednesday.

“We have no choice but to stay, other than to maintain hope,” Yehuda said. Earlier in the interview, he said his family was “also worried about Aviv, Liat Benin’s husband.”

Yehuda Benin said: “We know that Aviv was injured on the day of the attack, and other than that, we have no knowledge of Aviv, where he is being held or who is really holding him.” “This lack of information and confirmed news is clearly very concerning.”

Benin said he and his wife suspect that other groups in Gaza not fully controlled by Hamas may be holding their daughter or her husband.

“I have no specific information about who is holding our daughter or Aviv. “This seems to be a reasonable conclusion given the course of events so far,” Yehuda said.
