Guatemala will present the U23 team for a friendly match against El Salvador

The Guatemalan Football Association announced that it will play with its under-23 team in the international friendly match against El Salvador on Friday (September 24th) in Washington.

This will be the second friendliest game in this 202 tournament, after the game played on June 26 at the Bank of California in Los Angeles. They also met in the group stage of the Gold Cup on July 11.

Initially, this friendly match was announced with the players of the first team, even the leaders of the first division announced this week that the match was in the interest of the league, but the Guatemalan football authorities announced that the match would take place. Exit on date and location as they state but will be at U-23 level.

In this regard, El Salvador coach Hugo Perez stated after the match against Canada that the Alianza players would not participate in the match because they were committed to the CONCACAF league. At the same time, he made it clear that the meeting will serve to see new players who could join in choosing the next triple date of the Octagon in the qualifiers where El Salvador will face Panama, Costa Rica and Mexico.

When consulted, DT Pérez admitted that he did not know the new arrangement and that he had already prepared the payroll for the match against the Central American neighbours.

“I wasn’t aware of this new arrangement, I spoke this morning with the president and he didn’t say anything to me. I’ll try to talk to the president to confirm that he has the payroll he’s going to be traveling with and that they’ll be called on Monday, so I can’t go into it,” he said.
