Films that the United States has chosen to preserve for posterity

Some of the highest-grossing films in history, e.g Home Alone, Apollo 13 And Terminator 2in addition to famous or well-known films such as Fame also Deceived They are among those selected this year to be preserved for future generations by the United States Library of Congress.

The list of 25 titles announced by the library on December 13, the largest in the world, will enter the National Film Registry and become part of the select film club whose preservation is already guaranteed by law.

In compliance with the National Film Preservation Act, each year the Librarian of Congress names 25 films deemed to be of “cultural, historical, or aesthetic” significance for the National Film Registry.

Selected films

Selected tapes must be at least a decade old, and are selected by the librarian after consultation with members of the National Film Preservation Board and a group of library professionals. Titles suggested by the public are also taken into consideration. On this occasion, citizens suggested 6,875 addresses.

-The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

– The Wedding Feast (1993)

-Maya Lin: Strong, Clear Vision (1994)

What films have already been recorded?

The National Film Preservation Board, of the United States Library of Congress, was established by the National Film Preservation Act in 1988 and renewed by acts of Congress in 1992, 1996, 2005, and 2008.

Some of the films that belong to this record are Sneezing Farid Ot, by Thomas Edison, one of the first tapes to be selected for preservation.
