This weekend, the Directorate General of Sports cooperates in the organization of high-profile international sporting events such as the World Championships for Cross Triathlon and Aquathlon, at the International Center for Sports Innovation in the Natural Environment “El Anillo” in Guijo de Granadilla (Cáceres); and the 26th Cup of Latin Directing Countries, in Jerez de los Caballeros and the southwestern Sierra (Badajoz).

Some of the best international and national triathletes meet this weekend in North Caceres. More than 2,200 athletes are registered to compete in the World Triathlon Cross and Aquathlon Championships, organized by the International Triathlon Federation; In addition to the Spanish multi-sport championship organized by the Spanish Triathlon Federation. Athletes from across the European Union, the United Kingdom, Russia, the United States, Mexico and Brazil, among others, will arrive in Extremadura.

The various competition tracks start from the International Center for Sports Innovation in the Natural Environment “El Anillo”. The swim sections will start at the jetty and pass through the waters of the Gabriel y Gallan Reservoir. Bicycle paths will run along the paths that surround the facility and will pass through the dehesa areas. Foot racing in the tests will travel almost entirely on the roads around the facility.

To the south of the province of Badajoz, the Southwest Sierra region hosts the 26th Latin Steering Nations Cup, organized by the Alcor Extremadura club. More than 800 athletes from 14 countries, such as Argentina, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Belgium, the United Kingdom and Portugal, compete in one of the sport’s international standard events. This test is the sixth Spanish League and Iberian Women’s Championship. The courses are held in Oliva de la Frontera and Salvaleón and the competition is in Barcarrota and Jerez de los Caballeros.
