Conservative Party sinks in polls and rises

Justin Trudeau, Canada’s prime minister, will lose the general election by a wide margin, according to a poll released on Thursday that ensures the ruling Liberal Party currently enjoys just 22% of popular support compared to 41% for the opposition Conservative Party. .

The poll, conducted by Nanos Research, puts the Liberal Party in second place, tied with the New Democratic Socialists (NPD), which also received 22% of voting intentions.

The poll, which is the result of interviews with 1,093 people, conducted on November 24 and has a margin of error of 3%, indicates that 34.1% of those surveyed prefer conservative leader Pierre Poilievre as prime minister, while 19% of them chose it. Trudeau.

This is the second poll within 24 hours that reflects Canadian voters’ dissatisfaction with Trudeau.

On Wednesday, Ipsos published a poll in which 72% of those interviewed believed that Trudeau should resign and allow someone else to lead the Liberals in the next general election.

The Ipsos poll was conducted from November 14 to 17 with interviews with 1,000 people and has a margin of error of 3.8%.

Canada’s last general election was held in September 2021, and a new call to the polls is not planned until September 2025.

But Trudeau’s Liberal Party is ruling in a minority with occasional support from the NDP after taking 157 of the 338 seats in the lower house of the Canadian Parliament, so Trudeau could at any time be subject to a vote of no confidence.
