Carmen Thomas: Economics for later

Madrid, November 22 (OTR/Press) –

Pedro Sanchez already has a government. No less than ministers or politicians designed to administer. In a difficult economic moment and the worst that will come next year according to all expectations, the President has decided to leave Nadia Calviño in the government, in charge of the economy until December 8th. On that date it will be revealed who will head the EIB, and thus whether Calviño will succeed or not. If he succeeds, he will stay, and if he leaves, we will see who will take charge of the economy. There is talk of José Luis Escrivá falling into a completely indispensable service.

In any case, the question is no longer whether there are too many ministries, but rather that there are. He is the one who will confront the bull by the horns from the first moment and will implement, as the Governor of the Bank of Spain requested on Monday, the reforms that Spain needs and which have not been implemented. We must also address the issue of reducing public debt and deficits. If fiscal rules are finally implemented again in the European Union in 2024, what will Pedro Sánchez do next with the billions and billions of euros that he plans to spend on a huge administration, but also and above all on his agreements that will be invested.

Moreover, interest rates are likely to continue to rise. They will do this in the United States as well as in the European Union. Inflation continues to cause problems, recession is a reality in many eurozone countries, and the implementation of European financing is not having nearly the impact on the economy that was thought. In this context, Pedro Sanchez seems to consider it a joke. Let’s see how they will resolve the public accounts for next year and at what cost to the Spaniards. What is certain is that the taxes we will all pay will increase so that the president stays in La Moncloa and complies with his partners, even though, as we already know, this will perpetuate inequality and a lack of solidarity among Spaniards.
