Canada highlights the Executive’s commitment to a peaceful transition

GUATEMALA CITY, Sept. 3 (AGN).- Canada’s representative to the Organization of American States, Hugh Adsit, highlighted Canada’s commitment Government of Guatemala With the electoral and transitional process.

The announcement was made during the special session of the Organization of American States held on Friday. During his speech, the Canadian official thanked Foreign Minister Mario Boccaro for his help in delving into this type of issue.

I appreciate the presence of Minister Mario Buccaro at this meeting today, and this demonstrates the Government’s commitment to these discussions.

He pointed out that his country seeks to provide support to the central government in this transitional process. He noted that the same should be developed peacefully and with the work of all parties concerned. All of this focused on the well-being of the population.

Canada welcomes President Giammattei’s call for a peaceful transition, and we ask all stakeholders in Guatemala to work together to do so, because Guatemalans deserve nothing less.

Guatemala Commitment

At the same meeting, Foreign Minister Boccaro affirmed the commitment of the government of President Alejandro Giammattei to ensuring a historic transition.

The official spoke to those present about the first transitional meeting, which will be held on September 4.

At this meeting, the current and elected authorities will discuss the transition methodology, in addition to being informed of the tasks that will be implemented in the framework of following up on plans for the benefit of the population.

The Secretary-General of the Organization of American States, Luis Almagro, invited by President Giammattei, is expected to participate in the event.

Finally, Mario Boccaro made it clear that the current administration will ensure that the leadership is transferred on January 14. Law that is consistent with the Guatemalan democratic system.
