Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, Hollywood stars and friends since their youth, will work together again in a kidnapping thriller titled “Animals” produced by Netflix, the platform announced on Thursday.

After the success they both achieved with the movie “Air,” Affleck will be the director and Damon will be the protagonist in this new film, the plot of which has not yet been revealed.

British Conor McIntyre (“Jury”) will be in charge of the script and production will return to Artists Equity, the company founded by Affleck and Damon in 2022 with the aim of sharing profits among their entire team, along with Brad Weston. And Colin Creighton from season 5, who also played this role in the series Air.

“Air,” Affleck’s first Damon feature, was one of Amazon’s best-selling studio releases, grossing more than $90 million at the international box office.

In this film, Damon played Sonny Vaccaro, the CEO of Nike, and Affleck had a supporting role as Nike founder Phil Knight.

Affleck is now focusing on the sequel to The Accountant (2016), but according to Hollywood press, he could begin filming on Animals in the coming months and continue on The Accountant. At the end of the year on his busy schedule.

For his part, Damon recently joined the cast of “Oppenheimer,” a film that has so far won a Golden Globe and is a front-runner for the Academy Awards with 13 nominations.

Affleck and Damon collaborated as screenwriters on Good Will Hunting (1997), which won them an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. They later starred in Dogma (1999) and co-wrote The Last Duel, directed by Ridley Scott, among other projects.
