Baldur’s Gate 3 is mired in confusion as players report some major issues with the game’s third act. After patch 4, performance issues and bugs significantly reduced the experience.
Not only is Baldur’s Gate 3 one of the biggest video game releases of 2023, but its incredible mass appeal has made it one of the most played games of all time. This niche role-playing game has captured the imagination of players around the world and received eight nominations at the Game Awards 2023.

Its success and popularity have put Baldur’s Gate 3 at the top of GOTY contender lists since its standout launch, but some have suggested that its performance should disqualify it. Larian initially resolved early issues in the game’s final chapter, but a recent patch has brought them back into the light.
Baldur’s Gate 3 players have reported several issues after patch 4
Reddit user King_Brass He complained on Reddit about Baldur’s Gate 3 that “Patch 4 broke Act 3.” Many players on the two platforms on which the game is available have echoed this complaint.

When recounting his experience with the PC version of Baldur’s Gate 3 on Steam, the player stated that “The entire Act 3 environment is broken“. It has reported issues such as companions not following the player character, crashing NPCs and interactions that stop progress, and problems saving or loading the game.

Lag was also mentioned in the initial message, but it appears that these issues are not exclusive to the PC version of Baldur’s Gate 3.It’s worse on PS5“Another user explained.

In addition to the issues initially reported by u/King_Brass, players have reported massive loading times and companions regularly freezing. In the comments, users asked Larian Studios to “fix the game” as soon as possible.
While PC and PlayStation 5 players are currently experiencing these issues in the final chapter of Baldur’s Gate 3, a much bigger problem is plaguing Xbox users. All three works are currently unplayable on the console.
Larian will announce a solution to this particular problem at the Game Awards on December 7, 2023. In the meantime, we will have to wait to see if the studio will soon be able to solve the problems in Chapter 3 of the latest patch and prove its worth for the Best Support nomination for the community for which it has worked so much.
