A tense sci-fi thriller that warns against the harshness of the business world

The secret mill (the mill) In its beginning, it reminds us of films such as Big boy (2003) and Fear game (opinion, 2004). A man appears without explanation in a large open-air cell, surrounded by high concrete walls and a windmill in the middle of the space. He will soon discover the reason for said mill, while at the same time trying to learn how to survive while trying to imagine how to escape the prison he finds himself in.

The information he receives is that he must meet a quota of mill cycles to continue competing. But it is not just a tough battle to obtain profits in a company, it is a battle for survival, because there are several dungeons (which we do not see) and they are all competing with each other.

It's not enough to meet the daily quota, you also have to avoid being last in the number of laps. Whoever does the fewest laps will lose more than just one position. The hero's initial helplessness later becomes a survival plan in order to defeat the system.

A huge debut, full of ideas, with a ubiquitous cast and a lone protagonist, The secret mill (The mill(United States, 2023) is a proposal that combines science fiction and drama and seeks to captivate the viewer. It's easy to achieve its goal at first and then overcomes various obstacles to keep it interesting and entertaining.

But fortunately, he decides not to leave an open ending, so he has to make the decision to close the story. Many viewers will be disappointed by the closure, but it is far more generous than not paying attention to whatever is suggested. The film's rhetoric is very clear and the question is clear: how far will you be able to go to get your dream job?
