Netflix It has a film style that has been repeated over the years. A strong sci-fi premise that grabs attention and sparks a plot that never manages to live up to that beginning. To accompany these stories, it's always a good idea to have one or more stars finish creating the hook. Alfred Hitchcock “Cinema is the art of filling an empty room,” he said, “and perhaps one might think that today.” flow It's the art of getting people to start watching the film.” Cinema was lost along the way, of course. One might wonder how many chances this film would have had if it had been intended solely for cinema.

leave the world behind you (leave the world behind you) tells the story of a family who decides to take a surprise vacation by renting a house in the country. When they spent their first night there, two strangers knocked on the door. These two people, father and daughter, claim to be the owners of the rented house.

The reason they are there is because the cyber attack caused a technological outage and they have no choice but to inconvenience the tenants. Although initially distrustful, Amanda (Julia Roberts) and her husband (Ethan Hawke) agree to live with the Scots (Mahershala Ali and Mihala Herold), not knowing that the attack is more serious and decisive than they think.

Screenplay and direction by Sam Ismail, who produced the series Mr. Robot (2015-2019) His works consist of adapting Roman Alam’s book and incorporating a large number of themes into a film that mixes science fiction with drama and horror. A very ambitious combination that the feature film format lends itself very poorly to. Its duration of just over two hours shows that the script hasn't quite found its direction.

Political discourse, condemnation of a technologically dependent world, racism, distrust of governments, solidarity versus selfishness. Parts are not added, they are subtracted, and the film shuts down before reaching the middle.

Its sheer seriousness makes it ridiculous at more than one moment and the very poor digital effects detract from the focus in several key scenes. All you have to do is watch the scene of the boat washing up on the beach to realize that this was a very neglected aspect of the film. It looks more like a scene Sharenado A first-class production with top stars.

The ending is as disappointing as the rest, although it does try to put a smiley spin on the story of a society that enters the apocalypse as a result of a cyberattack. The alarming premise it raises does not generate the slightest pain or thought at any time. Very average ring Black mirror It offers more than this.
