Venezuela will have a decisive confrontation against Canada tomorrow

The Venezuelan basketball team, whose spirits were high after beating the Bahamas 115-70 on Thursday, must defeat Canada tomorrow at Poledro Stadium in Caracas to qualify for this year's World Cup, and if they lose it will depend on other results and combinations to reach the great event.

Seven countries qualify for the World Cup finals in the Americas, including the three best teams in each group, and the fourth best of the two teams, i.e. the one with the best percentage of points.

Only Canada and the United States have a safe ticket, while the other positions will be decided tomorrow.

Classification possibilities

The Vinotinto de las Altos team ranks second in Group E with eight wins and three defeats, like the Dominican Republic and Argentina.

If Venezuela wins tomorrow, it will automatically secure the ticket. In case of defeat, the chances of qualifying for the World Cup will be as follows:

If the Dominican Republic loses to Argentina, the Venezuelan team will qualify if it maintains the difference in the overall basket. Venezuela has 138 points to the Keskian team's 119. In the two meetings between them, they shared the titles.

If both teams lose, the goal is for Venezuela not to lose in defeat to maintain the points difference.

The other scenario for qualifying for Vinotinto is a victory for the Dominican Republic over Argentina because Venezuela dominated the Albiceleste in a direct duel.

The fourth possibility is for the United States to dominate Brazil in Group F. Amazon has a 7-4 record. The fifth scenario is Uruguay's victory over Mexico, also in Group F. The sixth and final scenario is Colombia beating Puerto Rico, which also has a 7-4 record.

Competitor with an alternative team

Canada lost its unbeaten record on Thursday, visiting Argentina 83-72 in a game in which it played with a substitute team, without the NBA, which beat Vinotinto 94-56 on November 10 at the Edmonton Expo Centre.

In such a way that the team led by coach Fernando Duro was able to take revenge to secure the ticket.

Over the lifetime, Venezuela has 10 wins and 12 losses in 22 matches against Canada. The last victory over the Americans was on November 30, 2018, when they won 84-76.

For the fifth global appointment

Venezuela seeks to qualify for the World Cup for the fifth time. He participated in the competitions of Argentina 1990, the United States 2022, Japan 2006, and China 2009. He is now in the fifth tropical tournament, which will be held from August 25 to September 10 of this year in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia.

“We are always striving for more. On Sunday, we will play against Canada and, as we planned before, the Bahamas,” said coach Fernando Duro, who is confident in his team’s talent.
