You want to start a business, study or escape the winter and visit the United States, so you need to apply for a visa that will give you legal permission to enter this country that is currently led by Joe Biden.

Despite the increasing number of immigrants who go to North America every year, this country continues to grant visas to those who want to go legally to their country with various goals. For this reason, Andina Agency gives us a list of different types of visas that you can request:

  • B1/B2 visas: It is intended for multiple-entry visitors such as tourism, business or medical treatment. It is valid for 5 to 10 years.
  • C1/D visas: It is for international airline crew members and foreigners who need this operation and service.
  • F-1 visa: It is intended for a full-time student at a college, university, seminary, conservatory, academic high school, or other language training institution or program.
  • H-2A visa: It is for agricultural workers who are allowed to enter the United States for the purpose of holding temporary jobs in agriculture.
  • J-1 visa: It is for exchange visitors who participate in programs to promote cultural exchange, especially in business training.
  • M-1 visa: It is for non-academic or professional studies.

Fill out the form

After selecting the visa you want, you should start with the visa application, which takes about 90 minutes to complete. (You can click for application) If you have any questions regarding filling, about some documents required to fill visa application, just visit the embassy page and click on frequently asked questions, these can make it easier to fill out the application and solve some of your doubts.

After filling out the application, the next step is to schedule an interview. You must remember that you must be the one to sign and submit the application. For this step you must click Click “Register Application”, or your application may not be accepted. The Embassy’s page suggests being patient while using the form as the download time may vary depending on the speed of your internet connection.

The Visa Application Fee (MRV) can be used to schedule an interview at the U.S. Embassy in Lima until September 30, 2022.

New requirements against COVID-19

The United States Embassy in Lima reports that as of Sunday, June 12 this year, the CDC will not require passengers arriving by plane from abroad to the United States to submit a virus detection test for covid-19 with a negative result, or document recovery from COVID-19 before boarding your flight. Vaccination requirements remain in effect.

Visa renewal

The US government through its embassy in our country has said that nonimmigrant visas that have expired in the past four years (48 months) can be renewed without the need for a face-to-face meeting with consular personnel.

Those who are eligible to renew their visas without an interview can complete the information required on Form DS-160. You should then print and keep the DS-160 barcode page. Pay the visa fee, and leave your passport (with a minimum validity of 6 months), photo and the required documents at any of the addresses indicated here.

  • Your current visa was issued at the United States Embassy in Lima, Peru.
  • Your last visa application has been approved.
  • You are a Peruvian citizen or a foreign national legally resident in Peru.
  • Your visa to be renewed has not been reported as lost or stolen, and it has not been cancelled.
  • You have not been arrested or convicted of a crime, deported from the United States, denied entry to the United States, or had problems with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) while attempting to enter the United States.

The United States Embassy in Lima has informed, effective May 16, 2022, that in the process of visa renewal without an interview (IW), a virtual waiting list will be created for people requesting a visa, but no prior interview will be required.

Once everything is ready to receive your application, the applicant will receive an automatic message with instructions on how to submit their documents. Documents submitted without a request from the Embassy will not be accepted.
