El Salvador and Canada have not met for four years, five years not counting the friendly matches. Since then Canadian football has rapidly grown to a level that today makes it one of the best teams in the region.
El Salvador 1-0 Canada Friendly 2017 – Date: 10/8/2017
The last game between the Salvadorans and the Canadians took place at the BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston and was a friendly match.
Ervin Herrera did not reach a position to the left of Alexander Laren, but behind him and in the far corner came Denis Pineda, who managed to contact the ball and put it near the post where the opposing goalkeeper could not reach it. The goal was deserving of the blue and white that created more danger in the second half.
This was El Salvador’s only victory over Canada in its last five matches.
Canada World Cup Qualifiers El Salvador 3-1 Russia 2018 – Date: 9/6/2016
El Salvador no longer has the possibility of qualifying for the hexagons towards the World Cup Russia 2018. In their last match, they sought to end their participation with dignity at BC Place in Vancouver.
The visitors started the loss in the 11th minute with a misplaced Kyle Larren goal. Nick Ledgerwood took advantage of a cover error in the lower area to score only the second goal against Oscar Arroyo in the 53rd minute.
Darwin Siren was fired at 55 with a double warning. Gerson Main put the number up with honors in the 78th minute. David Edgar sealed the match at 90 + 2.
El Salvador 0-0 Canada FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 Qualifiers – Date: 11/17/2015
El Salvador drew 0-0 yesterday against Canada at the Estadio Cuscatlan, and the team barely added a single point in two home games towards the 2018 World Cup in Russia, after losing to Mexico on the first day.
Although improved compared to the previous game, this was the second consecutive game in which the national team did not score a goal.
The team led by Ramon “Primitivo” Maradiaga lacked strength with the born arrivals. The result obtained a few months ago in the Gold Cup was repeated, but this time it was on Salvadorian soil.
El Salvador 0-0 Canada Gold Cup 2015 – Date: 7/8/2015
The match against Canada was the team’s first in the 2015 Gold Cup. The two teams ended in a goalless draw in Los Angeles.
Those led by Albert Roca suffered an early loss to their striker Nelson Bonilla in the 10th minute. El Salvador showed a much higher footballing volume than Canada which was supposed to show much more.
The two teams in the group stage were eliminated from the competition by adding only two points each. El Salvador came in third place, having scored more goals than the Canadians.
El Salvador 0-1 Canada Gold Cup 2009 – Date: 7/7/2009
In the second game of the 2009 Gold Cup group stage, El Salvador fell 1-0 to Canada at Crewe Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.
In the 32nd minute, defender Manuel Salazar put a ball out poorly in front of the area recovered by Patrice Bernier, who hit the woodwork and almost touched Karum Ali Gerba to score the goal.
In that edition, Canada topped Group A with seven points, while El Salvador finished last with three units, defeating Costa Rica.
