Alongside the growth in the volume of fresh fruit and vegetable exports from the EU to Canada in 2022 compared to 2021, there was also a growth in value of 20%, for a total of €128.6 million. Citrus is the most exported product, amounting to 52,046 tons and 58.2 million euros.

After citrus fruits, the fruits and vegetables most sold by the EU to Canada are those listed under tariff code 0703, which corresponds mainly to garlic, onions and leeks, with 10,654 tonnes and €10.9 million, according to Eurostat data. , Eurostatprocessed by Vibex.

Regarding EU purchases from Canada, the volumes are much lower, with total imports reaching 554 tons in 2022 compared to 437 tons in 2021, with a value of 4.9 million euros compared to 2.2 million euros in 2021.

Relations between the two regions are based on the Strategic Partnership Agreement (SAA) and the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).
