Although these remedies seem very simple, the reality is that on some occasions we may find that they are not performed adequately, especially when it comes to the latter, which could put us at risk of contracting a food-borne illness, also known as food poisoning.

To ensure that the cauliflower you will consume is clean and free of disease-causing microorganisms, we advise you to do the following:

Remove, cut and separate damaged parts. The first thing you should do to clean and disinfect cauliflower is to remove the leaves and cut off the part of the stem that you will not eat. Next, divide them into small groups, and while you are doing this, check their condition, if you notice that one of them is really damaged, it is better to throw it away.

Clean up. To clean cauliflower, simply place the separated bunches under running water. When doing this, it is best to place the bunches individually and move their surface with one hand so that water can enter and remove dirt, pesticides and harmful substances from the entire surface of the cauliflower.

Disinfection procedure. Once the bunches you are going to consume are clean, you can perform disinfection, for this it is best to use a special solution that you can get in any supermarket. These are preferable to homemade solutions with baking soda or vinegar because science has proven their effectiveness in eliminating disease-causing microorganisms from surfaces. In most cases, when using these solutions, you simply dilute an amount in water and then immerse the vegetables in this mixture, but for safety, read the product instructions.

Do not rinse. Once disinfected, the vegetables will be ready to consume, and you will not need to rinse them.
