The annual survey of entities practicing scientific and technological activities is being implemented

With an uninterrupted 30-year historical series, the annual Survey of Entities Carrying out Scientific and Technological Activities (RACT) is being conducted again. This survey is the only official source of data on research and development (R&D) in the country, both for the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC) and for international organizations. The field phase will be carried out until June 30, which consists of collecting data on investments made in 2023 in terms of resources allocated to research and development (R&D) in Argentina.

A total of 269 organizations will receive the survey, including all public science and technology organizations, public and private universities, and a directory of non-profit entities. The responsibility for processing, analyzing and disseminating information lies with the National Directorate for Scientific Information (DNIC) of the Undersecretary of Science and Technology.

It should be noted that the information collected in this process is then supplemented with data obtained through the Survey on Research and Development of the Argentine Business Sector (ESID) – also conducted by the DNIC – for the preparation of the Statistical Yearbooks of Science and Technology. .

According to recent survey indicators, nearly 127,000 people worked in research and development activities in Argentina in 2022, including more than 96,000 researchers and 31,000 people who carried out other research and development tasks.
