monterey. – The municipality of San Pedro hosted “Canada Day” this weekend, during the activities of San Pedro de Pinta.

Canadian Consul to Mexico Sandra Schadeck highlighted that in 2023 the consulate will be celebrating its 30th anniversary in Monterrey, so this year’s celebration in Calzada del Valle is even more special.

“Celebrating Canada Day, which is July 1st, is our national celebration that we do every year, but we’re also very proud of the 30th anniversary of the consulate, we were founded in 1993, also July 1st, so it’s a double celebration.”

Among the things to do at La Calzada roundabout from 9:00 in the morning you can find traditional Canadian pancakes with bacon and drinks with maple, in addition to franchises from various branches such as Canada Beef, Tim Hortons and Air Canada offering their services.

And the head of the Canadian consulate stated that during the year 2022, about 5 thousand people were received throughout the day, so a similar influx was estimated this year.

In addition, consulate staff provided information about various tourist destinations through the Canadian Travel Agency, and even educational offerings at various universities, according to Shadek.

For the little ones, workshops on face painting, drawings referring to Canada, pin making and camping simulators were prepared, the latter of which were made by the participants themselves.

Throughout the day, which ended at 1:00 pm, many artists were present who enlivened the afternoon with Mexican and Canadian music, as well as the singing of the national anthem.
