Midfielder Ibarra leaves Argentinos Juniors and goes to the USA

Midfielder Franco Ibarra will leave Argentinos Juniors and join Atlanta United from MLS in the United States, a club led by Argentine Gabriel Haynes.

The Georgia state club itself announced this afternoon that the 19-year-old will be added to the list once “visa procedures are completed and international transfer certificates are received,” the purchasing club said.

“Even though Franco (Ibarra) was only 19 years old, Franco (Ibarra) broke into the Argentinus Juniors’ Primera team last November and really showed his athletic ability and aggressiveness,” said Carlos Bocanegra, who is vice president of the franchise.

Ibarra made 11 appearances in the main team of La Paternal and eventually appeared in the Argentine U-20 team.
