Jose Pablo Gil is the Canadian singles and doubles champion

A total of 22 Costa Rican cyclists, from the country’s 15 cantons, will represent Costa Rica at the 2024 FISU World University Championships, which will be held from May 29 to June 2 at the Tecnologico de Costa Rica (TEC) Campus in San Carlos.

These are 11 men and 10 women, belonging to 12 public and private universities. They will participate in five global competitions, both on the road and in the mountains.

“I feel very proud and motivated to participate in this World Championship. We want to represent the country in the best way. Costa Rica will become the first country in America to organize the International Federation of University Sports (FISU, in French) World University Cycling Championships. It will be the ninth edition, with seven of them being held in Europe and one in Asia.

The event will take place from May 29 to June 2, based at the local tech campus in San Carlos with tours of surrounding communities. More than 200 cyclists from about 30 countries will participate in the race.

The 2024 FISU World University Cycling Championships are organized by the Tecnológico de Costa Rica and the University Sports Federation (FedeU), with the technical cooperation of the Costa Rican Cycling Federation (FECOCI). It is supported by UNESCO, the Ministry of Sports, Icoder, the National Council of Presidents (CONARE), the University of Costa Rica, the National University and the State Distance University.
