Javier Riello named Vice President of TotalEnergies America • EconoJournal

Rillo, currently Managing Director of Total Austral and Senior Vice President and Country Head of TotalEnergies for the Southern Cone, will assume the role of TotalEnergies Senior Vice President of Exploration and Production in America, effective September 1. He will be replaced by Catherine Remy as CEO of Total Austral.

Starting September 1, Javier Riellocurrently Managing Director of Total Austral and Senior Vice President and Country Head of TotalEnergies Southern Cone, serves as Senior Vice President of TotalEnergies Exploration and Production in America. Therefore, Rilo will lead all exploration and production activities in Americawhich includes from Canada to Argentina.

This appointment is accompanied by an important change for the company as Javier Riello will remain in Argentina to manage the entire region from here, which until now was directed from Houston.

Javier Rillo has had an extensive career within the company, which he joined in 1998 as Director of Audit and Control at Total Austral, then moved to Strategy Management, was Director of Business Development and in 2007 took over General Management from Total Austral. In 2013, he moved to Paris, where he headed the East Africa region. In 2017, he took on the role of TotalEnergies Senior Vice President of Asia Pacific Exploration and Production in Singapore.

At the beginning of 2022, he returned to our country to serve as Senior Vice President Southern Cone and Country Head of TotalEnergies in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay and Peru. In this position, he managed exploration and production activities in the Southern Cone, as well as the development of renewable energy activities.

Meanwhile, effective September 1, Katherine Remy will replace him in the position General Manager of Total Austral, He will be responsible for exploration and production activities in Argentina. This appointment represents another unprecedented development for TotalEnergies, making Catherine Remy the first female CEO to lead Total Austral’s operations in Argentina.

Trained in engineering at École Polytechnique (France) and the University of Berkeley (USA), Catherine joined TotalEnergies in 2004 as an economist and moved on to work in the financial management of the holding company. He later turned to exploration and production projects, first in Port Harcourt (Nigeria), and later to Argentina. During her time in the country, she was responsible for developing the basic engineering, construction and transportation of the Vega Pléyade (Australian Basin) platform. He then returned to Paris where he worked in business development in countries such as Brazil and Iraq.

In 2021, she joined the company’s Health and Safety for All (HSE) division, managing the environmental and social performance of all branches, a position she held until her appointment as General Manager of Total Austral.

Regarding this, he said: “It is a great honor for me to return to Argentina. In this new phase, I will take responsibility for continuing to position TotalEnergies as a leader in the energy transition.

With this appointment, the composition of the Total Austral Management Committee will have absolute gender parity, highlighting the importance TotalEnergies places on diversity.
