Chicago Cubs team decided today Not offering the 2021 contract to Kyle Schwarber, Now a free proxy. Schwarber was a part of the organization for seven years, and was the post-season champion of the Cubs in 2015 and 2016. It will take some time to adapt to this new reality.
On the decision to go ahead without offering Schwarber a contract, and on the possibility that the parties would later agree to a new deal, Cubs President Jed Hoyer spoke to the media tonight. Yes, family reunification is possible, but the free agent is the free agent.
