How Will APEC Impact Traders – Telemundo Bay Area 48

Starting on Saturday, November 11, one of the most important events in the world known as the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum will take place at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

This summit will bring together thousands of people, including top world leaders such as President Joe Biden and delegations from 21 countries including China, Mexico, Peru, Chile, Thailand and Canada.

For this reason, security measures will be tight not only for summit participants, but also for residents and traders in the area.

Below you will find a series of instructions that you will need to know to comply with the security measures established by the US Department of Homeland Security.

All businesses and offices located in the Moscone Center area will be able to open their doors, but employees and clients must adhere to the corresponding security measures.

No one needs to obtain prior security clearance, not even employees, customers or owners. Only conference attendees need it. No one needs proof of employment or citizenship to enter a public area during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.

For the vast majority, all members of the public not attending the APEC summit will be able to reach their residences and businesses on foot along the secure fenced area. However, persons seeking pedestrian access to any of the businesses located from Mission Street to Howard Street, between Third Street and New Montgomery Street, must go to Jesse Square and obtain an inspection of their property before they are directed down the “slide.” street. They will be allowed to cross Third Street at the pedestrian crossing in front of SF MoMa, where they will then be able to reach their respective destinations.

If you’re looking to get into Metreon, you should also go to Jessie Square and get an inspection of your property before you’re directed down the slide directly to Metreon.

An additional pedestrian access control point is located on Folsom Street at Hawthorne Street for commercial properties and businesses along Folsom Street between Hawthorne Street and Third Street. This additional checkpoint is only for public access to those businesses.

Importantly, the pedestrian access point at Fifth Street and Howard Street is limited to attendees of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit only.

Residents of the area

Residents will be able to access their residences on foot within the restricted vehicle zone and will not need to enter the restricted pedestrian access area to access their residences.

Persons living within the vehicle exclusion zone or intending to visit a resident living within the vehicle exclusion zone, arriving by car or other vehicles, must arrive from outside the designated green line after meeting a designated police unit on his street to express his purpose.

These vehicles will need to be inspected/swabbed at one of the vehicle checkpoints, either at 5th Street, Mission Street, New Montgomery and Jessie Streets or at Folsom Street, just north of 5th Street.

After screening, these people will be allowed to park their cars in garages or parking lots in these residential areas, and will be able to leave their residences to move outside the ban zone for unaccompanied vehicles; However, street parking will not be permitted and unattended vehicles may be subject to towing.

Residents who are allowed to park inside residential garages or residential parking lots do not need to go to an RDS for vehicle inspection, unless they are driving a vehicle larger than a station wagon.

Nurses and related medical services will be accepted. Construction or maintenance contractors will also be authorized; However, the contractor’s vehicle may need to be inspected at the RDS. In all cases, proof of appointment is required.

Residents and guests are not permitted to park on streets within the perimeter of the fence.
