Canada will supply Ukraine with air defense equipment worth $24 million

Ottawa, September 17 (Sputnik).- Canada will contribute 33 million Canadian dollars (about 24 million US dollars) to a UK-led international partnership to supply air defense equipment to Kiev, the Canadian government said on its website.

“Canada will contribute C$33 million to a partnership that will supply Ukraine with hundreds of short- and medium-range air defense missiles, as well as related systems needed to protect Ukraine’s critical national infrastructure,” the statement read.

According to the report, the money will go to a partnership established in June 2023 by several countries, including Denmark, the Netherlands and the United States, led by the United Kingdom, to provide Kiev with air defense means.

Many countries condemned the military operation launched by Russia on February 24, 2022 in Ukraine and supported Kiev with arms supplies, donations, humanitarian aid and sanctions on Moscow.

Russia has repeatedly warned that NATO countries are “playing with fire” by supplying weapons to Ukraine, and that foreign convoys carrying weapons will be a “legitimate target” for its military forces once they cross the border. (Sputnik)
