Alejandro Tabelo successfully debuted at the Challenger 125 in Mexico City (clay), after defeating South Korean Hong Seung Chan in two sets.

Chilean tennis player Alejandro Tabelo (162nd in the ATP rankings) made his successful debut on Monday at the Challenger 125 in Mexico City, a clay-court competition held at the Chapultepec Sports Center.

The third national racket and the sixth seed in the main draw gave an account in the 32nd round to South Korean Hong Seung Chan (207), in an unprecedented duel on the ring, with two parts 7-5 and 6-3.

Despite facing some resistance from the Asians in the first round, the Canadian-born left-hander pulled out of the bout without major flaws based on a solid base game and a heavy focus on the “big points”.

Remember, Janow, 25, intended to play the Masters 1000 in Miami, but was left with the urge to lose in the playoffs against compatriot Cristian Jarin.

To move on to the quarterfinals, Tapelo will face France’s Enzo Quacod (194th), who beat Dominican Nick Hardt (217th) in the first round 6-7, 7-5, 6-3.
