Sources – Philadelphia Eagles interviewed for Los Angeles Rams DC Brandon Staley for the head coaching position

Los Angeles Rams’ defensive coordinator Brandon Staley, who has been awaiting the Green Bay Packers in their playoff game on Saturday, is awaiting the Philadelphia Eagles when this season ends, according to league sources.

The Eagles already had permission to interview Staley in time, which could be early on Sunday if the Rams have not come forward, according to the sources. Staley will join the list of trained candidates that the Eagles are already studying because they’ve spent their week doing interviews.

The Eagles are attracted to Staley and the reputation he gained during his year as Sean McVay’s defense coordinator in Los Angeles, as well as the skills he demonstrated in Denver under Broncos coach Vic Fangio.

The Eagles aren’t the only team interested in Staley. The Houston Texas team also got permission to interview Staley, and there’s a connection there.

Staley trained at John Carroll University, where new Texas General Manager Nick Casereo also attended. The two have a strong relationship and perhaps Casrio’s presence may help lure Stalie into Houston.

But the Eagles want to talk to Staley; They made it known. He’s one of their top favorites, and depending on what happens on Saturday, he may have the opportunity to meet soon with the NFC East team looking to fill the major training vacancy he created last week when he fired Doug Pederson.
