The mayor of the capital, Engineer Norma Fuentes, and the Minister of Health, Elias Natividad Nassif; I attended a lecture on comprehensive women’s health at CAPS “Dr. Estanislao Ponce” in the 8th of April district, given by Professor of the Chair of Gynecology at the Faculty of Medical Sciences at UNSE, Dr. Mariela Fuentes Costilla, accompanying the students carrying out their academic training.
The meeting, which was held within the framework of the Pink October campaign, sought to raise awareness and work on the importance of early detection and immediate care for various diseases that affect women, such as breast cancer, osteoporosis, breast and cervical cancer, and others.
In this sense, the community leader highlighted “the need to provide the community with spaces where they can receive quality medical care that are closer to their homes, and to relieve pressure on hospitals.”
For her part, Minister Nassif stressed “the importance of women starting to pay attention to their health, as throughout history they have given priority to the well-being of their families, and often left their health aside.”
Moreover, the authorities stressed that “adequate conditions cannot be guaranteed to enable women and the population in general to obtain effective diagnosis and health surveillance, under a public system that is free and accessible to all.”
In turn, Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Eduardo Alloub, emphasized “the importance of strengthening the public health system by integrating teachers and students into our university, with the understanding that medical professionals must be on equal footing with the neighbors who need them.” .
The mayor and the minister were accompanied by the governorate’s director of primary health care, Dr. Martha Tarchini. Municipal Coordinating Secretaries Dr. Daniel Kopelaniski and Government Engineer Nestor Machado; Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Social Development, Mauro Kalinski; and Director of Health, Dr. Antonio Palomo.
