Evelyn Bermudez retained her belts in Canada against local Kim Clavell

Argentine Evelyn Bermudez defeated Canadian Kim Clavell by split decision. With this result, the Santa Fe woman retained her World Boxing Organization (WBO) and International Boxing Federation (IBF) titles in the light flyweight category.

The key to the match was Bermudez’s long range, which allowed him to do damage on the counter-attack. The competitor tried to slow her down with her speed and explosiveness, but that was not enough to convince the majority of the judges.

In the past, the result was ambiguous, as regardless of the trust placed in Bermudez, rulings abroad have a local stake that can be felt in the judges’ decision, but this time this was not the case.

This victory was important for the fighter from Santa Fe because she is now on her way to a match against Mexican Jesica Nery Plata, who holds the World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Association (WBA) titles.

If things go as expected, the Argentine will have great chances to unify all the belts in the light flyweight category.
