El Salvador will seek a place for the Olympic tournament after 52 years of its last and only classification. La Azul will fall into Group B of the tournament, alongside Honduras, Canada and Haiti; Whereas in Group A the host country will be Mexico, the United States, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic.

Initially, this tournament was scheduled to be held in March 2020, but due to the pandemic, it had to be postponed. The pre-Olympic stadiums will be the stadium of Jalisco and Akron.

On the other hand, the formula of the competition dictates that the first and second places from each group advance to the semi-finals, and that the two countries that have qualified for the grand final are the creditors of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games centers.
