Costa Rica's national taekwondo team is preparing to shine at the Canadian Open

To the rhythm of popular music, typical dances, traditional parades and the great human warmth that characterizes Guanacastians, it was the perfect setting for the first date of the junior classifications of table tennis, which was held in the gymnasium of the Sports Center of the Canton of Santa Cruz.

More than 250 tennis players, who traveled to one of the provinces in Guanacaste Pampa, began to fight for the title of the 2024 season. The proceedings began around 9 am on Saturday with competitions in the U9, U11 and U13 categories for women and men.

Throughout the day, there were hotly contested matches and a great atmosphere in the stands that filled the gymnasium with emotion and visitors, including parents, had a very special day.

The Costa Rican Table Tennis Federation (FECOTEME) thanks the Cantonal Sports and Recreation Committee, the Municipality of Santa Cruz, and the Parents' Action Group for all the dedication, effort and support given to the implementation of the aforementioned date, which was completely successful. .

The top winners on the first date of the secondary classification were determined as follows: in the women's U9 category, the winner was Jesmely Navarrete from the Alajuela Club and in the men's category Agustín Rangel from the Santa Ana Club.

Then in the U-11 female category, Amanda Chen from Escazu Club won and in the male category, Fabian Rojas from San Carlos Club won the first two places respectively, followed by Kiani Martinez from Esparza and Nicholas Ovares from Santa Ana who won the U-13 category in their respective genders.

On Sunday, two more categories were contested in females and males, with Yara Navarrete from Domingo and Gabriel Chavez from Escazu taking first places in the U-15 category, and finally Maria Paula Araya from Santa Ana and Alejandro Montoya from Alajuela taking first places. In the under 20 category.
