Columbia is launching a new line of high-performance sport fishing gear consisting of high-quality, durable and stylish functional apparel, including hats, shirts, jackets, shorts and longs.
It features lightweight, sweat-wicking T-shirts designed with water activities in mind, as well as lightweight shorts to keep you comfortable all day long. On sunny days, they also provide several caps and hats to protect yourself from UV rays.
This line also features some of the best patented technologies for outdoor living, like Omni-Shade and Omni-Shield, a liquid-repellent technology that protects against splashes and stains. The PFG European Spring Collection is only in a men’s version and is available exclusively through the Columbia website.
The Performance Fishing Gear (PFG) line is a staple of the fishing community not only in the United States but around the world, providing enthusiasts with quality gear since 1996.
However, the story begins in 1958 when Gert Boyle’s husband, Neil Boyle, was in charge of the company. Neil had a lot of friends who were fishing, so the two thought they should make a hunting jacket. Gert Boyle knew how to sew and made her husband a hunting jacket, with many small pockets for storing fly fishing gear.
Columbia Sportswear’s origins can be traced back to the original hand-sewn hunting jacket. This inspiration can also be seen throughout the Columbia catalog, including lifestyle collections, like this season’s Deschutes River Heritage.
