VIRGEN DE LA ALTAGRACIA – Mass in Canada honoring the patron saint of the Dominicans

The Dominican Embassy in Canada sponsored a mass in honor of the Day of the Virgen de la Altagracia, Patron Saint and Protector Mother of the Dominican Republic.

The activity was carried out at Notre Dame Church in Ottawa, the Canadian capital, by Reverend David Bergeron, Dean of the cathedral, who said during the Eucharist “This is the moment to take shelter in the love of the Virgin Mary.”

Throughout the entire homily, he expressed words of encouragement to the Dominican people and the Catholic community, urging us to continue to trust in God’s plan and to allow the Mother who gave birth to the “Son of Light” to be our guide. Renewing our faith in these times of pandemic.”

Meanwhile, the Dominican Ambassador to Canada, Michelle Cohen, noted that this celebration radiated a glimmer of hope, and noted that the Mass was conducted with a deep sense of faith.

The protocol also included lighting two candles bearing the image of the Virgin in honor of the residents of Canada, and shows the strengthening of diplomatic relations between the two countries, according to a press article.

In the end, Cohen especially thanked David Bergeron and all his staff for the kind welcome at the cathedral facilities located in the heart of Ottawa.
