El Salvador won the silver medal in the mixed doubles badminton, and the third medal for the Cusco delegation at the 2021 Cali Valley Junior Games. The duo Aurel Kangura-Fatima Centeno lost the final to Canada 21-13, 21-14 and they retained the silver medal.

The Salvadorans lost the first set 21-13, with the Canadian duo putting them under constant pressure throughout the set.

Uriel Kangura has already taken the silver and will take home a double gold at the Junior Pan American Games

The second set was a 21-14 loss to Salvador, but the scoreboard does not reflect what happened in that set. The Salvadorans were very close to most of the group and only eventually gave up important points for the Canadians to win the gold medal.

Canjura and Centeno reached this state of mixed doubles in badminton by defeating Argentine Nicolas Oliva and Iona Gualdi 2-0, in the semi-finals, on Sunday afternoon.

In the afternoon, the Soshitoto-born player took the silver after losing to Canada’s Brian Yang (8-21, 6-21) and won the men’s individual silver at the I Cali-Valle 2022 American Games.
