Travel agents know Tenerife because of its promotion in the United States

This week, Tenerife welcomed dozens of travel agents from the United States, aiming to learn about the island from the perspective of excellence through its unique offering and environmental, social and cultural sustainability. This is a visit organized by Cabildo, through Turismo de Tenerife, in collaboration with tour operator GoGo Vacations and United Airlines, which has been connecting the island to New York with a direct flight since June 9, and whose head of sales Michael Scott has also traveled with the expedition.

To show the isolated diversity, a program has been organized that includes visits to emblematic historical centers, such as La Laguna, Garachico, Teide National Park, Masca Farmhouse or Los Gigantes Cliffs. In addition, they will have the possibility to do different food tastings and activities related to nature and the sea. Representatives of travel agencies will also be able to get acquainted with the quality of the accommodation plant, as well as its offer for leisure day and night.

For the island’s director of tourism, Laura Castro, “The fact that this group of agents, dedicated to such a specific sector, to get to know the island is an opportunity to show that we have a destination committed to sustainability and offering quality and excellence to the traveler with high purchasing power who, in the case of the United States, It is a profile that we are very interested in continuing to attract.”

Tenerife’s Minister of Tourism, David Perez, highlights that “we continue to work with United Airlines and have jointly designed this induction flight to the destination so that they can learn first-hand about all the activities of the island’s tourism value chain.”

Perez insisted, “However, part of the route enhancement strategy between New York, Newark and Tenerife consists of training sector professionals on the massive intersection and diversity of the destination originally, so these valuable visits add to said strategy and improve connectivity to the island.”

This is the second flight of this kind that Tenerife has received this year from representatives of one of the most important groups of agents in the United States. On this occasion, in addition to the Director of Sales for United, Gabriela Ibarra, member of the representative office of Turismo de Tenerife in the North American country, joined.
