Barcelona and Real Madrid meet for the second time in North America

Las Vegas will, for the first time in its history, witness one of the most influential matches in the world: a version of the Clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The two teams will clash in the 250th edition of this competition as part of the Football Champions Tour, which will be the second Clasico match played on US soil.

The first time the two US Soccer teams met in 2017 was away at Sunlife Stadium, which is today called Hard Rock Stadium, the home of the NFL’s Miami Dolphins.

On this occasion, Barcelona snatched victory in that match, after beating its hated opponent 3-2. For the Catalan side, Lionel Messi scored very early in the game, Ivan Rakitic and Gerard Pique, and he is the only one from that list still in force in Xavi Hernandez’s squad.

Mateo Kovacic and Marco Asensio scored for Real Madrid in a match in which he scored four goals in the first half.

That edition, which was held in three different cities, saw Barcelona lift the title at the US Conference in front of 66,000 people in one of the last moments in which Neymar was seen wearing a Barcelona shirt.

This victory over Real Madrid allowed them to win the title after winning all three of their matches, thus starting on the right foot a season that ended up becoming both the League and Copa del Rey champions.
