The Olympic flame in Beijing 2022 will conduct a virtual face-to-face tour

October 20, 2021, 4:50 a.m.BEIJING, Oct. 20 (PRINSA LATINA) The Olympic torch for the 24th Beijing 2022 Winter Games will take a tour of China in the hands of thousands of people, but it will also be on a virtual journey, the competition’s organizing committee said today.

The icon arrived here this morning from Greece, and then the city authorities held a welcome party at the “Bird’s Nest” stadium, where they announced the flight details.

Initially, the fire will be displayed in the Olympic tower of that stadium, and then it will tour the country, with the aim of encouraging residents to practice snow and ice sports.

According to the commission, relief during the national flight will be implemented in a reduced manner to avoid Covid-19 cases.

Later, between February 2-4, 1,200 people will carry the torch as they visit the emblematic areas of Beijing, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou, the three arenas that will host the games.

At the same time, China will show a journey in virtual reality through programs such as the popular WeChat, similar to WhatsApp here.

Beijing 2022 is counting down – and under the slogan “Together for a Common Future” – in less than 100 days, it will show what it promised would be the best show of snow and ice ever, with more sports and better prepared athletes.

The competition generates very high expectations and the President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, maintains a satisfactory assessment of the preparations, training and association with the healthy lifestyles of the population.

China has established a bubble mechanism with measures that provide a guarantee of prevention and control of Covid-19, and is currently examining the operation of headquarters and proven systems for combat.

But powers like the United States and Canada are promoting an international boycott of the Games, arguing that the Asian giant committed alleged genocide and set up re-education camps in the Uyghur autonomous region of Xinjiang, with a strong Muslim presence.

Beijing has repeatedly denied the accusations and has predicted the failure of a campaign aimed at politicizing the competition.
