The Olympic champion heads the Cuban delegation at the World Canoeing Championships in Canada – Polideportivo

Havana, July 28 (EFE). Olympic rowing champion Serge Torres will lead the Cuban delegation at the 2022 World Speedboat Championships to be held in Halifax, Canada, from August 3-7, according to the island’s official media on Thursday.

Torres will be accompanied by world champion Yariselides Cirillo and Catherine Nuevo, as well as Jose Ramon Belair and Tabiani Diguez.

The president of the Cuban Federation of Specialization, Alejandro Hamza, explained that the group carried out training in Colombia and that they would continue their preparations on the island even before their departure for the North American country, according to the Jet Sports portal.

Sergey Torres will compete in the C1-5000 and with him Dieguez in the C2-500, and in the case of Pelé will do so in the single seat at 1,000 metres.

Yarisleidis Cirilo will participate in the C1-200 and C1-5000 and also in the 200- and 500-meter canoe competition with his partner Catherine Nuevo.

Cirillo and Nuevo won four gold medals and one bronze at the World Boating World Cup in Poznan, Poland, last May.

In that competition they finished in 43.84 seconds in the C2-200 and 1:58:44 minutes in the C2-500.
