The National Fire Service organizes the 1st Regional Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration exercise

The Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development of the Nation, through the National Service for Fire Management (SNMF), is part of the first regional exercise of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration being conducted in the municipality of Chorumoro, Tucumán Province, with the participation of forest fighters from that jurisdiction and the provinces of Salta, Jujuy, Catamarca and National Parks in the region. The training course, which will continue until tomorrow, was attended by the Argentine Federal Police and volunteer firefighters from the host province.

Among the exercises covered, air transport and work with pumping equipment and hand tools were carried out. SNMF made available a hydrant aircraft to carry out fire control and reloading practices for the aircraft, and Tucuman provided a helicopter to transport brigade members.

The exercise was organized at the last regional meeting held during the month of May in Catamarca and is important to adjust operational issues for the upcoming fire season in northwestern Argentina. On behalf of SNMF, Lautaro Vazquez, NOA Regional Coordinator, participates.

It should be noted that the service is organized in six regions. These are the operational areas that are attended, in accordance with the relevant requirements, by air and ground teams and have a responsible coordinator. Each region has a high fire season according to the time of year when the most important fire sources are recorded. In the case of northwestern Argentina, this period extends from July to December.
