Tegucigalpa, Honduras. – Ambassador of the Government of Canada, Elizabeth Williamspresented this day before a secretary Foreign Relations and International CooperationAnd the Eduardo Enrique Reina Garciacopying the manner which she adopts as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of her nation to the people and government of Honduras.
Ambassador Williams has already worked in the Central American region defined in Honduras and Nicaragua, as well as in Costa Rica. In her country, she worked in the United Nations Law Department, and served as Director of the Department of Gender Equality. Most recently, he served as Chief of Staff and Executive Director in the Office of the Deputy Secretary of International Development in 2020-2021.
Abroad, diplomat Williams served in six positions: second secretary in Oman; Head of Cooperation in Baghdad. First Secretary for Legal Affairs and Congress in Washington; First political secretary in Damascus and Beirut. and as a Human Rights Adviser at the Permanent Mission of Canada to the United Nations in Geneva.
The ambassador was also Chief of Staff and Director of Public Relations at the Canadian Human Rights Commission.
Honduras is a Canadian cooperating partner for more than four decades. From 1969 to date, the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) has invested more than $500 million in official development assistance in this country.
In this case, between 2019 and 2020, for humanitarian assistance in cases of natural disasters and food insecurity, Canada provided assistance to Honduras in the amount of C$33.5 million.

Ambassador Williams also met with Ambassador @gtorreszelaya1Under Secretary of State for Foreign Policy, with whom he expressed interest in expanding benefits and maintaining close diplomatic relations between the two countries.
