The US and French embassies issued alerts to their citizens and recommended against traveling to the southern and eastern regions of Armenia due to possible attacks from Azerbaijan.
The French Embassy published a a map Its citizens are advised not to travel to those areas: “On September 13 and 14, the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan was the scene of bloody clashes between the armed forces of both countries. Shots also hit civilian targets in Armenia. So far, the fighting has not resumed, but the situation remains tense. Therefore, French citizens are advised to exercise the utmost caution when traveling to Armenia. The French embassy clarified that travel to the south of the country in particular (Sionik, Vayat Dzors, and southern Jigarkunik provinces) is not recommended and travel to the border areas between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The shooting comes into effect on November 10, 2020, French citizens are strongly advised not to travel to Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as the surrounding areas (see the paragraph on control areas and areas in red on the map in the “Security” tab). French consular assistance cannot be provided in this area.” He was also warned of the possibility of attacks: “As a reminder, the risk of an attack is high, and French residents or those in transit abroad are called upon to show the utmost vigilance. In particular, you should stay away from gatherings and be careful when traveling. It is also recommended to stay informed of the situation and the risks.”

“Following the September 13-14 military operations on the Armenian side of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, US Embassy staff and their families are prohibited from non-essential travel” to the following locations:
- Tavush district along the M4 motorway north of Ijevan and all districts to the east.
- Gegharkunik district east of Lake Sevan.
- Gegharkunik area south of Lake Sevan and east of the M10 motorway.
- Village entrenches in the Ararat region.
- Vayots Dzor District, east of Yeghegnadzor.
- Syunik District.
- Travel to Nagorno-Karabakh is still prohibited.
