The Cross returns on Sunday at La Cañada Real

The cross will return to the scene this weekend in Valladolid. The last game in Spain was the National in Zaragoza, on March 8, 2020. Thus, this Sunday, Cañada Real will host the 33rd International Cross ‘City of Valladolid’, with safety prioritized.

The Cross Internacional Ciudad de Valladolid has always featured high-profile foreign and national athletes who were ambassadors for this event. On this occasion, this participation will diminish due to the restrictions caused by the epidemic. Sports advisor Alberto Bustos confirmed this morning in his presentation that this event will be held in the open air and in an open place and that, in addition, it will strictly adhere to all security measures. This is the priority that I also emphasize.

The competition will take place at Cañada Real on Sunday, starting at 11 am with the security protocol covered by the health regulations in force in the Castilla y León community and the protocols for the return to the competition of the Supreme Council of Sport and the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation. Procedures include taking the temperature of all attendees and a responsible statement, to be summoned from the city council. The rink is closed to the public, and therefore it can only be visited by athletes and staff of the organization. Space will be limited and comprehensive control of entry and exit will be implemented, with accommodation times regulated for the duration of the competition. Likewise, one-way roads are constructed.

The competition provides an opportunity for a large number of athletes who have not been able to perform this competition for a year. The last cross held in Spain was the National Cross in Zaragoza, March 8, 2020. “It is a moral injection for the athlete, his coaches, the teams that really represent society,” collected this morning.
