The School of Engineering and Science of Tecnológico de Monterrey presented the first axis d(e) data scienceIt is a unique initiative in the country that seeks to centralize this field in Latin America.
The project consists of some strategic allies: Accenture, AWS Academy, Canieti, Google Cloud, Institute for Innovation and Technology Transfer of Nuevo Leon State, MathWorks, Microsoft, Nvidia and negotiations are underway to add more experts.
The goal is Strengthening synergies between government, organizations, entrepreneurs and universities with the College of Engineering and Science From Tecnológico de Monterrey.
“Data analysis helps in making decisions, understanding the behavior of phenomena and designing and proposing solutions for the benefit of society, as well as reducing research spaces and activating mechanisms that generate an efficient and effective ecosystem, as well as a more diverse, competitive and prosperous region,” explained Juan Arturo Nolazco, Director of the Science Center data.
Some of the projects that are under development are: identifying biomarkers for the diagnosis and prognosis of diabetes and metabolic syndrome, as well as reducing the time to select anticorrosives, among others.
Together, projects with high economic and social impact will be developed in areas such as: health, genomics, materials, manufacturing, physics, chemistry, construction, social sciences, finance, marketing and psychology, among others.
Hub lines of business focus on offering: Continuing Education for Masters and Ph.D. In research and consultancy and in promoting and raising awareness of the benefits of the region through competitions for students and companies.
During the opening, Juan Pablo Mora, Dean of Professional and Postgraduate Studies at Tec de Monterrey emphasized that: “Data is a renewable and growing resource that has revolutionized all aspects of our lives, and in Tec de Monterrey we will continue to invest to keep developing the cutting edge and acquiring the tools, knowledge and technology to take advantage of this new capabilities and translate them into high-value, specialized talent that will aid in the economic, social and environmental development of the country.”
Also in attendance were Manuel Zertosz, National Dean of the College of Engineering and Sciences, and Mario Adrian Flores, Vice President of the North Region at Tech de Monterrey.
After the inaugural announcement of the center, it was carried out remotely.
The Data Science Center whose address is located on the Monterey campus is the third in the ecosystem; In 2018, EIC opened the Cyber Security Center on the Santa Fe Campus, and in 2019, it opened the Artificial Intelligence Center on the Guadalajara Campus.
