How to transfer your data to the new browser

Next, we will see how we can avoid losing our data when changing browsers, and perform the process of importing bookmarks, passwords, browsing history, etc., in browsers such as Firefox, Edge, Chrome or Opera.

Import save data to Mozilla Firefox

If we decide to start using the Mozilla web browser and want to restore all the information we saved in another browser, we should know that Firefox allows us to import both bookmarks, as well as browsing history and password that we saved in another browser.

We will be able to do all this by clicking on the button with three horizontal lines that we find in the upper right. From here, we will be able to access all Firefox settings. Here we must click on the bookmarks section and then at the bottom we click on Signal management Or directly use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + O.

This will open a new popup called Catalog. Here, among the tabs at the top, we are interested in the one that says Import and Backup. We click on it to display a menu, where we choose the option Import data from…

Now a window appears with the Firefox Import Wizard, in which we will be able to import options, bookmarks, history, passwords and other data from another browser. For this we can choose between Microsoft Edge, Microsoft Edge Legacy, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Brave, Chrome and Chrome Canary. We select the desired person, make sure that it is closed and click Next.

Next, we must select the items we want to import, whether it is browsing history, saved logins, passwords and favorites. Depending on the browser chosen where the data is imported, these may vary, as you may be able to add other items such as cookies or lack the others already mentioned, depending on the compatibility with each. Click Next and Firefox will automatically perform the entire process within seconds.

Bring all the information to Microsoft Edge

Microsoft has achieved with Edge a browser as expected. Its arrival was a major advance in relation to its predecessor, the legendary Internet Explorer. If you decide to give the new Edge a chance, you are probably interested in importing all the data stored in your regular browser so far, we must follow the steps below.

The first thing we must do, once Edge is open, is to click on the button with three dots at the top right. This will open a dropdown menu where we will click on the Settings section. In the new tab that opens, we remain in the first section of the left column, called Profiles. On the right side, select the option Browser data import.

Now, we find a new window that shows us that we can save all the credentials in Microsoft Edge, so that we can import our data from other browsers and password managers. For this we will have two sections at our disposal, namely Import browser data nowwhat we care about most.

From here we will be able to import favorites, passwords, history and other browser data, either from another browser or from an HTML file. To do this, click on the button Choose what you want to import.

This will bring up a new window, where the first thing will be to choose where we want to import the data we need from. Click the drop-down menu and select between Microsoft Edge (previous version, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox (default version), Mozilla Firefox (default), Favorites or Bookmarks HTML file and Password CSV file.

Depending on the option chosen, different content that we can import will appear as favourites, passwords, personal information, browsing history, and more. All of this content will depend on which option to import from and current compatibility with Edge. Once you have selected all the required content, click on the Import button.

Import data from another browser to Google Chrome

Google Chrome is the most popular and used web browser around the world, so if we decide to use it after browsing others, we might be interested in being able to import all our data so we don’t waste time configuring it. For this we must follow the following steps.

To do this, click on the button with three dots that we find in the upper right and click on its configuration section. Then click on the section Import bookmarks and settings.

This will bring up a new window where the first thing to do is to select the desired browser among Microsoft Edge, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox (default version), Mozilla Firefox (default) and Bookmarks HTML file. Depending on the desired option, we will be able to import more or less data. For example, from Firefox we will be able to fetch browsing history, favorites, passwords and saved data to autocomplete forms. On the other hand, if we choose Edge, it will only allow us to import favourites.

Once we have chosen the browser and the data we want to import, all we have to do is click the Import button so the process will complete automatically, without you having to do anything else.

Bring all your saved information to Opera

Opera is a browser that has always been a great alternative to the most popular browser, so if you decide to give it a try, you will definitely be interested in being able to import all the data saved in your regular browser. To do this, follow these steps.

Once Opera starts up, click on the button with its logo in the top left. This opens a drop down menu where we choose the bookmarks option and then click on the bookmarks option. Import bookmarks and settings.

This will open a new page with a popup where we must first select the browser from which we will import the data. We can choose between Mozilla Firefox (default version), Mozilla Firefox (default), Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge Legacy and HTML bookmark files.

Depending on the browser we choose, we can choose to import different data. In Chrome, Firefox or Edge we will have the ability to import browsing history, favorites, saved passwords and cookies. Once you have chosen the desired options, simply click on the Import button so the whole process will be done automatically.
