Spain: UNIR launches an artificial intelligence project to affirm the role of women in science

Artificial intelligence (AI) can be a valuable tool for vindicating women pioneers in science and technology. At least that’s what a project of the Virtual Museum of the International University of La Rioja (UNIR) calls. “Women are at the forefront of artificial intelligence.”

“The ‘Mujeres de vanguard-IA’ exhibition, presented by our IEEE WIE Spain colleague Paula Lamo, is an innovative and essential exhibition that aims to highlight the presence and work of relevant women in science and technology. This project presents a series of portraits of women who have excelled in their respective fields of knowledge The exhibition’s author has used artificial intelligence to translate text into images to create a fresh, modern approach to showcasing these women’s legacy and contributions.”

Today, we are witnessing a new industrial revolution that uses technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), and robotics to balance productive efficiency with the quality of life for workers. Although some people fear losing their jobs or the unethical use of AI, its potential is limitless thanks to deep learning, which allows machines to learn through experience and practice.

Application of artificial intelligence in the preservation of historical and cultural heritage

Artificial intelligence is already transforming business sectors and revolutionizing the entire world, including historical and cultural recovery. New technological developments make it possible to reinterpret and update the portraits and portraits of historical figures. In doing so, he transmits his legacy to the new generations in an attractive and innovative way.

This may seem both real and imaginary because the new generations have different lifestyles and ways of communicating. This is why they may not feel interested or reflected through old photos or paintings of relevant personalities in their disciplines. Here is the contribution of artificial intelligence. The project is also supported by Section of IEEE Spain.

The UNIR Virtual Museum’s “Mujeres de vanguard-IA” project displays portraits of outstanding women in science and technology to publicize their legacy and contribution. In it, they suggest that fostering careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) is important so that both men and women can develop in areas that matter to them and contribute their own perspective to interdisciplinary teams.

Artificial intelligence as a tool to promote social inclusion

Thanks to innovative applications of artificial intelligence and through a virtual museum, it seeks to learn about the legacy of women technologists and scientists. It is considered an essential element in reflecting on its role in the industrial history of our society.

With the help of artificial intelligence and virtual reality, The initiative seeks to encourage STEM careers among women not only for reasons of progress and innovation, but also for reasons of social inclusion.

It is clear that the project is not looking only to the past to salvage the stories of pioneering women in science and technology. Many are also looking to the present to highlight the critical role women play in these fields.

Its organizers propose to recognize women who lead important companies and make relevant contributions. Items that can inspire others to follow in your footsteps toward a more inclusive and equitable future.

In addition, this exhibition is presented as a very useful tool to bring the legacy of these women closer to the younger generations. Using artificial intelligence to reinterpret and update images is an innovative way to bring these women’s work closer to young people. Without forgetting that it allows the youngest girls to appreciate the contribution of these women in a modern and current context, and to reflect on their role in the industrial development of our society.
