Spain/UK. – Spanish Foreign Minister meets his British counterpart on Gibraltar – Spain

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation, Jose Manuel Albarís, met his British counterpart, James Cleverly, who reiterated the UK’s commitment to reach an agreement between the country and the European Union in Gibraltar that “works with everyone in the region.”

Alparis reported, via Twitter, that at the meeting, which took place in Oxford – where the head of Spanish diplomacy went to participate in the Spanish-British gatherings – they both addressed the strategic bilateral relations between Spain and the UK.

“We want a mutually beneficial relationship for our citizens,” stressed the Spanish foreign minister, who shared photos of the event.

For its part, Cleverly highlighted, also through the same social network, that the meeting helped “work together” around “security, prosperity and opportunity”. Likewise, I reiterated the commitment of the United Kingdom to reach an agreement with the European Union on Gibraltar.

In this regard, the Gibraltar government confirmed that it had worked “closely” with the British Foreign Office in light of the Cleverly and Alparis meeting, which was ultimately an “opportunity” to ratify the UK’s commitment.
