Softball prepares for the Pan American Championships ‘Sports’ Granma

The Argentine city of Parana, the capital of the province of Entre Rios, will host the US XI Men’s Softball Championship, between February 19 and 27, 2022, which will award four tickets to the World Cup in New Zealand.

In order to get one of the stakes, preparation for the national preliminary selection is underway in Ciego de Ávila, which recently implemented a training base in Colombia, where it could be included in a cup in Cartagena, according to Radio Rebelde.

Bearing in mind that the region is one of the strongest in the world, the goal becomes very challenging, however, Cuba has star bowler Alain Romain to achieve success.

Although not all participants have yet been identified, the presence of the major powers has been confirmed, including Argentina (the current world holder), Canada (world bronze), the United States (5th), Venezuela (sixth) and Mexico (11th).

Specifically, the latest edition of the World Cup, Czech Republic -2019, meant the team’s return to the highest category, after 30 years of absence. In this event, Cuba took 10th place.

Speaking to Radio Rebelde, Roman said Cuba has a team to be among the top four in Argentina and to qualify for the New Zealand World Cup. “We have already shown our level in the Pan American Games (Lima 2019), we have given huge matches to the United States, Venezuela, Mexico and the Argentine national team itself. We just need to keep up with the level selections before we reach Paraná.” (mathematics writing)
