Several medium-sized earthquakes were recorded in the past hours in different regions of northern Chile Without, at the moment, personal injuries have been reported.
According to local media, the affected areas are the regions of Atacama, Coquimbo and Valparaíso, which were hit by earthquakes of between 5.8 and 5.9 degrees, although they did not record any material damage, they disturbed the residents.
The National Seismological Center, Its magnitude was 5.9 on the Richter scale, and its epicenter was 50 kilometers southwest of Huasco.
Just half an hour later, another earthquake of magnitude 5.8 occurred, the epicenter of which was 49 kilometers southwest of Huasco.
Onemi has indicated that no damage or changes to basic services or infrastructure have been reported, confirms the Emol portal.
Similarly, the Navy’s Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service (SHOA) reported that seismic motion characteristics do not meet the conditions for issuing a tsunami warning on the country’s coasts.
