Saskatoon kids across Canada are saying what the holiday spirit means to them

With another dream until Christmas, the big day is approaching.

For the children of Saskatchewan and Canada, the spirit and meaning of Christmas is relatively the same.

Between the ages of five and nine, everyone agreed that family time, gifts, and excitement for Santa Claus topped their lists on Christmas Day.

But they all have other ideas, too.

Corbin Knoe, a seven-year-old from Thunder Bay, Ontario, said he loves to go out.

“I like playing in the snow, throwing snowballs, sledding, making snow angels, things like that,” Kno said.

Ethan, seven, and Owen McDowell, six, in Kelowna, British Columbia, felt that another Christmas staple was lights and light shows.

“(I love) its shine,” said Ethan.

“I like all the lights, except the blue ones,” Owen said while his father Ryan laughed at the camera.

Kanaga, nine, and Justina Green, seven, of Wisconsin, added that family and gratitude are important.

“Spending time with family is what I love,” Justina said.

“Spend time with family and love what you have over what you don’t,” Kanaga added.

Five-year-old Charlie Reminda from Saskatoon said her favorite things are gifts and family.

Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus and all the dwarves will be busy at work as they get ready to load a sleigh to deliver gifts to all the kids across the country.
