The dancing couple formed by Olivia Smart and Adrian Diaz will make an appearance at the Winter Olympics after defeating Sarah Hurtado and Kirill Galyavin in qualifying that concluded today at the European Championships in Tallinn.
Olivia Smart and Adrian Diaz will be the dancing couple representing Spain at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. The team training in Montreal (Canada) beat Sarah Hurtado and Kirill Galyavin in the qualifying process, after completing their last scoring competition: the European Championships in Tallinn (Estonia).
The Olympic venue was decided by the Finnish Cup (October 2021), the Spanish Iberdrola Figure Skating Championships (December 2021) and the European Championships held during this week. In the global calculation of all performances, Smart and Díaz collected a total of 585 x 15 points, surpassing Hurtado and Gallivin by 13 to 33, who reached 571 – 82 points.
They will be the first games together for Olivia and Adrian, 24 and 31 years old respectively, despite the fact that the Catalan athlete was present in Sochi 2014. Both will also be responsible for representing Spain at the upcoming World Figure Skating Championships in Montpellier (France), to be held in The period between March 21-27, 2022.
