What are the states and cities threatened by blizzards in the United States?

The upper Midwest in the United States bore the brunt of the country’s expected snowfall, in the midst of a coast-to-coast storm and millions of people are under the winter watch.

According to him National Weather Servicein parts of the Midwest, snow could fall at 1 to 2 inches per hour Wednesday, along with gusts of 40 to 50 mph.

From now through Friday, February 25, the largest snow accumulations are expected in California, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Wyoming, as seen on this map with authorities’ forecasts.

Here is a review of the places facing the worst threats.

Minneapolis, Minnesota

The worst effects are expected in the Twin Cities region, which includes the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul and surrounding suburbs, starting late Wednesday through Thursday. Heavy snowfall is expected to cover the ground very quickly, and to be accompanied by gusty winds, making travel particularly dangerous.

In Minneapolis, the “historic” three-day storm will bring “widespread snow accumulation, with winds and snow drifts primarily from Wednesday through Thursday,” the National Weather Service said in the Twin Cities specifically.

The city could receive 15 to 25 inches of snow by Thursday, in addition to the 1 to 3 inches that has already fallen there.

Governor Tim Walz ordered the state’s National Guard and Department of Transportation and Patrols to prepare to respond to the storm’s impacts.

Sioux Falls, South Dakota

In addition to up to 10 cm already recorded in the state, snowfall up to 41 cm and winds of 72 km/h are also expected.

South Dakota’s governor announced Tuesday that offices of the executive branch of the state government will close Wednesday in more than half of the state’s 66 counties, with plans for employees to work remotely. In addition, Interstates 29 and 90 were partially closed Tuesday night in preparation for the expected snow.

Cheyenne, Wyoming

Heavy snowfall of up to 30 cm is expected on Wednesday.
